The Bounty Strood, a community-focused pub in Rochester, is celebrating after raising an incredible £2,800 over the past 18 months for a local charity, Club AUsome.

The pub’s fantastic efforts, along with support from the local community, are part of Craft Union’s ‘Make it a Million’ campaign. The aim of the campaign is to raise £1 million for local community causes through Craft Union’s network of over 600 pubs nationwide, with more than £500,000 already raised.

For nearly two years, the pub has been relentless in its fundraising efforts, steadily pushing closer to the £3,000 mark.

During this summer’s Euros, the team put on a balloon-pop competition with an England shirt up for grabs, regular raffles, and even put on a special Drag Bingo night.

The community pub frequently organises fundraisers, such as traditional meat raffles alongside a Bonus Ball competition twice a week, while the collection pot on the bar helps pick up any other generous donations from Rochester locals.

And the community’s generosity doesn’t stop there, with guests donating to participate in the monthly quiz, while the local ice cream lady regularly visits, contributing a portion of her profits to charity.

This cause is local charity, Club AUsome, a Rochester based charity that supports young people and families living with autism.

As the charity receives no money from the government or council, they rely solely on the money raised by the local community, with the Bounty Strood more than willing to play their part in supporting such an important cause.

The £2,800 will help fund Club AUsome’s community of support and help put on events such as cinema trips, youth club nights and day visits to theme parks and zoos.

Operated by Kelly Earle, the Bounty Strood has become a cornerstone of the local community, providing not only a place for social gatherings but also a source of significant support for its community.

Kelly said: “To see everyone come together to support such an important charity was a heartwarming and prime example of what makes our community so brilliant.

“The cause is very close to my heart and I’m so proud to be helping such a valuable local charity that supports young people and families with autism and really makes a difference.

“Thanks to the generosity of the local community alongside our own staff, we are so close to reaching £3,000, which will go such a long way in supporting Club AUsome.”

To celebrate Kelly’s monumental fundraising efforts, the operator has recently been invited for a private tour of Buckingham Palace, displaying just how much her work has been recognised and the positive impact it is having on the Rochester community.

Located on Bligh Way, the popular pub plans to build on its success with continued fundraising events designed to engage and entertain the community, all while supporting vital local causes as part of Craft Union’s mission to raise £1 million for charity.
