Everyone’s feeling the pinch at the moment and there’s certainly not many of us who can afford to splash out on a £1000 shopping spree but for one person that’s just what will happen as the Slug and Lettuce on North John Street gets ready to open up its safe for one lucky customer.
The bar plans to hand over the wad of shopping vouchers to the customer as the highlight of its celebrations during its re-launch night on Thursday 16 February. Customers and local businesses will be invited to get a sneaky peak at the new look bar from 5pm whilst enjoying complimentary drinks. From 7pm the doors will swing open for the party to really kick off.
The first 200 guests to arrive from 7pm with an invitation (available on request from alan.armstrong@stonegatepubs.com) will receive a complimentary glass of bubbly and a key to the safe. The lucky customer with the correct key that opens the safe will win £1000 of shopping vouchers to spend at Liverpool One Shopping Centre. Throughout the evening guests will be treated to all the glitz and glamour of an A-list event from the purple carpet and paparazzo through to entertainment from table magicians, stiltwakers, angle-grinders and firebreathers. The bars resident DJ will be on hand to play all the greatest party tunes from 8pm until 2am.
The bar, a favourite haunt of shoppers, tourists and city centre workers and one of Liverpool’s most visited nightspots is being transformed with a £250,000 makeover into the latest Slug and Lettuce design. The bar will temporarily close later this week, when builders and designers will be let loose for 11 days to refurbish it from top to bottom. New booth seating, furniture and late night lighting is being installed along with a stylish colour palate of plum, aubergine, purple and gold to complete the overhaul.
Manager Jackie Drennan said of the giveaway,
“What better way to banish the winter blues than with a whole new wardrobe. It’s a fabulous giveaway and pretty good odds at 200 to 1. The bar will look stunning once it’s finished. I’m delighted with the design as its stylish and contemporary but will feel warm and inviting too. We’re not resting on our laurels whilst the builders are working at the bar as the team and I will be refreshing our training so that when we re-open every aspect of our service is absolutely tip-top.
