A weekend of celebrations and entertainment takes place commencing Friday 16th October as one of Plymouth’s most popular traditional pubs re-opens following a £200,000 investment. The pub, situated on Royal Parade, has upped their service team creating five new jobs as well as offering a host of new ales, dishes and customer experiences.
The doors open with a champagne and canapé reception at 5pm for regulars and special guests to preview the pub with the general public invited from 7.00pm. Former Royal Marine, Mark Ormrod, who served in Afghanistan, will officially re-open the pub.
The celebrations begin when the pub’s entertaining Friday karaoke night makes a comeback. The tempo turns up on Saturday night when local band, The Vibes, takes to the stage to perform live in the evening.
Opening daily from 9am serving a superb selection of breakfast dishes and freshly brewed coffee, the Brass Monkey will be introducing a new menu to coincide with the re-launch. Designed to appeal as the perfect daytime meeting point or place from which to work or relax whilst shopping, the pub’s new menu is packed full of delicious pub dishes to suit the time of day. From a range of snacks and light bites to fresh salads, grilled dishes, burgers or pub favourites, the pub has every dining occasion covered. Proper pub favourites such as the pub’s gold award winning Cumberland sausage and seasoned mash or mac ‘n’ cheese are available at two for the price of £8.99. Sundays will be devoted to the great British roast, with a selection of quality meats, all cooked freshly and served with seasonal vegetables.
The pub re-opens with an excellent beer range. Ten cask ale handpull pumps showcase some of the very best in British beer from nationally renowned ales such as Sharp’s Doombar and Fullers’ London Pride to the finest locally sourced cask beers. Hunters’ Black Jack, Otter Brewery’s Otter Bright and Exmoor Ales’ Beast will all be on tap for opening. New to the pub will be craft ale, the American inspired beers which have taken the beer drinking nation by storm. Craft beers on tap will be Revisionist and Blue Moon. Cocktails will also feature on the drinks menu, available daily, at two for the price of one, between 5pm and 8pm.
The Brass Monkey will continue its popular evening activities as well as introducing a range of new ones. Mondays remains sport focused when customers can catch all the latest live sporting action shown on Sky and BT Sport via three large screens and five HD TVs. Wanabee musicians can try their hand at the mic during Tuesday’s new open mic night. It’s student and societies night on Wednesdays when the pub will be welcoming in the many teams and clubs it supports; and Thursdays plays host to a brand new pub quiz. Karaoke night continues every Friday with DJ or live music on Saturdays. Sundays, the Brass Monkey becomes a haven for those who love nothing more than to relax with friends or family over a traditional Sunday roast, read the papers with a pint of freshly poured cask ale or watch live sports.

The pub will close at midnight from Sunday to Thursday and at 1am on Friday and Saturday.
