The Plough in Ipswich is currently undergoing a significant £280,000 renovation to ensure it remains Ipswich’s favourite sports pub – much to the delight of managers of nineteen years, Paul and Michelle Bird.

The popular community pub is introducing a fresh new look with historic embellishments, a modernised bar area and an overhauled beer garden complete with astro turf and uninterrupted sports viewing.

All will be revealed at a VIP event on Friday 16thJune from 5-7pm with menu tasters, a meet the brewer with Lilley’s cider handing out samples of their new flavours and Adnam’s brewery explaining tricks of the craft beer revolution trade.

“We pride ourselves on being a great community pub and want to give something back to our locals. A bit of TLC is exactly what we need, its brand new and ready for the summer sunshine” said General Manager Paul Bird.

With three upgraded HD sports screens the pub now has a total of nine screens and a projector, there’s plenty of room for sports fans to unite. Pair that with table service during big games and you can be sure you’ll never miss a score.

Summer socialising wouldn’t be complete without a brand new food menu- 100 variations of dishes including traditional pub favourites like pie and mash to extensive vegetarian options like the vegetable panang curry. Brand-new daily offers and of course Sunday roast with all the trimmings to end the weekend depict the great value food offer.

Opening times have extended now opening at 9am everyday the pub offers a full breakfast menu including the full english breakfast or eggs rarebit with two poached eggs and bacon served on a toasted muffin with a mature cheddar cheese sauce just to name a few.

Drinks haven’t been left out either with an expansion of craft beer including Adnams dry hop and Blue Moon. Tutti Fruity and Cherry blush cocktail bowls are set for a summer sell out as the warmer months will entice locals to the revamped beer garden complete with decking and a brand new seating area.

“A great British pub is all about atmosphere, now the sporting season is coming to an end we have made sure there’s a reason to visit the pub everyday of the week” added Michelle Bird.

Tapping into up and coming trends the pub is introducing gin Mondays featuring favourites from the new premium range, Cask Tuesdays with a 10% discount for CAMRA members, Wine Wednesdays with bottles from £8.99, Friday and Saturday party, now open until 2am with a resident DJ and live bands and a Sunday wind down with a quiz.
