The Railway Inn, Glenfield has opened its doors to guests once more, following a £360,000 investment. The fresh, new look for The Railway Inn marks a new chapter in the pub’s history and sees ten jobs created in the local community.

To celebrate the reopening, locals and guests old and new were invited to a day of fun and hospitality with a grand finale evening of music from Hollyoaks star and singer-songwriter, Abi Phillips. The Railway Inn has long been at the heart of the community and this investment breathes new life into a beloved village pub.

The new look Railway Inn has bags of character. Keeping its traditional pub charm, the décor is brought right up to date with a fully refreshed frontage and interior with modern fixtures, fittings and quirky retro touches. From quiet, secluded seating nooks to the buzzing bar area, there is the perfect spot for every visit. As Christmas approaches, the cosy-factor has been dialled up to 100 with twinkling lights and festive touches at every turn.

The Railway Inn is the perfect place to enjoy your favourite sporting event with both Sky and BT Sports available across 13 large TV screens. Why not secure one of the new sports booths to watch the match? The perfect vantage point to enjoy in comfort. If you are more a fan of playing sport than watching, there is a pool table and dart board to hone your skills or challenge friends to a game.

The Railway Inn has a generous garden area and, despite the chilly weather, this has been given the same expert treatment. From traditional picnic benches to umbrella-shaded tables and heated, enclosed chalet-style cabins for the brave on those clear winter days. The enclosed seating areas have their own screens, so you can enjoy the match even when seated outside. Festooned with lights, the garden looks quite magical at night. There really is no reason to wait until summer to enjoy.

After its short closure, The Railway Inn reopens with a brand new, delicious menu. From small plates to sharers, wings to award-winning pies; there is truly something for everybody. For lunch, why not try a Proper Lunch with melt, wrap or sub with chips and a soft drink. For dinner, how about something from the Grill or try a customisable Burger and Drink deal. A burger not your thing? The Pub Classics menu reads like a greatest hits of all-time favourites. From fish and chips to curry and lasagne with vegetarian and vegan options at every step; everyone in your party will find something to enjoy. For pudding, Chocolate fudge cake, Jammy D cheesecake and even a foot-long cookie dough sundae sharer. For the little ones at your table, there is a children’s menu chock full of crowd-pleasers to keep them happy.

On Sundays, The Railway Inn is now serving Sunday roasts. Served with Yorkshire puddings, roasted parsnips, crisp roast potatoes, buttery mash, glazed seasonal vegetables and rich red wine gravy; there are all your favourite cuts of meat and vegetarian roast and gravy options. Add sides like sticky pig-in-blankets, cauliflower cheese or pork and fig stuffing to make things extra special.

Of course, The Railway Inn has an extensive drinks menu too. The Railway Inn offer two for one cocktails, by the glass or pitcher. Classics you may know and love such as Aperol spritz and Long Island Iced Tea to fun, party-starters like the Cheeky V with WKD Blue, port and lemonade. If you enjoy gin, The Railway Inn is for you. Try a limited-edition Gin Tree. Up to four drinks from the Gordon’s collection, paired with the perfect Schweppes mixer. A curated wine list means there is something to accompany every dish. For the festive season, why not enjoy a prosecco or even a Lanson champagne for that special occasion. On tap, a wide selection of beers, ciders and cask ales.

Ian Lowe, new General Manager of The Railway Inn, said: “I’m so excited about the future of The Railway Inn. The team love the pub’s new look and can’t wait to show people around every time a visitor walks in the door. The new menu is delicious and truly has something for everybody.

“It is a new chapter and I cannot wait to see The Railway Inn go from strength to strength. We are delighted to welcome guests, events and the local community again.”
