The Turing Tap has cracked the code as a destination pub – thanks to a £400,000 investment and the creation of seven new jobs.

The listed Manchester pub has received a makeover that has seen this much-loved student and local venue completely transformed with a new contemporary look and will offer a real point of difference to the local pub scene. The Turing Tap will provide tasty artisan pizzas; craft ales; 35 cocktails and a schedule of offers and events to keep every pub-over happy

It has also been given a new name in honour of Alan Turing, the former University of Manchester professor – who solved the Enigma code helping the Allies to win World War II.

What’s more, the stunning makeover – which has seen the site stripped back to an industrial look with modern black and white tiling, trendy bare brick walls, neon signs and neutral wooden fixtures – has led to the creation of seven new jobs.

The Turing Tap is holding a VIP event on Friday, 23rd September that will see up to 250 guests treated to fizz and samples off the new menu. Guests will also be treated to live music from a local band.

The VIP night will also have a vodka luge ice sculpture shaped like the famous Enigma Machine – the electro-mechanical typewriter-looking device Turing created to crack Nazi codes during the war.

General manager, Simon Menghan, said: “The Turing Tap is going to be a destination venue thanks to this fabulous makeover. It will be a place that people want to come to and stay.

“Thanks to the transformation and the new food and drinks offer, we will cater for all our regulars, students, and our loyal NHS staff supporters, all day long. We’re opening earlier for breakfast and extending our opening hours. There is also going to be great fresh food, more craft ales and a wide array of cocktails.”

The pub will be offering a selection of more than 35 cocktails and it has also joined the craft ale revolution with an introduction of six ales including Brewdog Punk IPA 5.6% and Blue Moon ABV 5.4%. These ales will join its existing line up of six cask ales.

The cocktail list will include all the classics like a French Martini, Pina Colada and Bellinis all served in retro glassware.

The Turing Tap will also have a range of artisan pizza, with the introduction of a new pizza oven in the kitchen, which will see the perennial favourites freshly made from dough on site.

The pub will also have a calendar of events across the week from the Afterwork Social on Mondays for two for one cocktails, through to Sparkling Saturdays with DJ nights
