The Black Horse in Monkseaton has recently welcomed the MP for Tynemouth, Alan Campbell to see its enhancements made during its £197,000 investment by the award-winning Craft Union Pub Company.

The investment, which took place a few months ago gave the pub a refreshing new look, which Operator Rosalind Barclay was able to show Mr Campbell during his visit. Rosalind said: “It was great to show Alan all the amazing new furnishings in the pub and talk to him about the changes that have been made during the investment, which he complimented, saying the pub looked very nice.”

Mr Campbell also got to find out more about the pub’s sports offering, where everyone is welcome to come and watch live sports throughout the week on the pub’s six TVs, placed in the lounge and bar area, all with Sky Sports, BT Sports and Racing UK. Rosalind also showed Mr Campbell the pub’s new darts board and pool table, which are popular among the customers.

Rosalind added: “We are a true community pub. It was lovely being able to tell Alan about our wonderful sports offering as well as, drinks and entertainment that we offer, which all the local customers love to get involved with. The investment has really enhanced The Black Horse and I am excited for the future of the pub.”

Alan Campbell MP said: “It was great to visit the refurbished Black Horse in Monkseaton recently where I met the new operator, Rosalind Barclay.  The recent investment has given the pub a new lease of life.  Pubs are very much at the centre of local communities and I am pleased that the Black Horse is once again welcoming local people. I wish Rosalind and her team the very best of luck.”

The Black Horse has upcoming live music on Sunday 13 November at 4pm, from the band Just So, who are a guitar and piano duo. The pub will also be screening The World Cup matches, which Rosalind and the pub team are excited to be showing and to experience all the action with their guests.
