The Oak, Baginton has been shortlisted as a finalist in the category of Best Pub for Dogs at the Great British Pub Awards 2022.
Earlier this year, the pub received a six-figure investment with enhancements being made to the interior and exterior. The Oak is a large traditional looking pub with a spacious garden and has an offering of an inn with 13 rooms. The pub welcomes everybody, whether you are looking to come in for a drink and bite to eat, taking a pit-stop on your walk or cycle, or are looking for a place to stay the night. Your four-legged friends are also very welcome.
With the pub being surrounded by popular dog walking areas and the kennel club, it offers these guests a place to stop off and visit with their furry friends. Throughout the pub and garden there are hydration stations as well as shaded areas and umbrellas in the garden to help keep cool your dog on hot days. Dog blankets are available to help settle dogs during their visit and make them comfy whilst you enjoy drinks or a meal. There is also a non-dog area in the pub as the team want to make sure everyone feels comfortable on their visit.
The pub’s rooms are also dog friendly and offers dog blankets and a dog pack, which contains a bowl, treats, poop bags and a toy. Whilst the pub charges a small fee for bringing a dog to stay, there is plenty of space in all the rooms and there is a fully enclosed paddock for you to exercise your dog off the lead.

The awards recognise pubs, and their teams across the country for their amazing efforts and hard work undertaken to makes Britain’s pubs great for their communities. Two rounds of judging have already taken place to choose the finalists, and further judging will commence over the summer with pub visits taking place.
The Great British Pub Awards will take place on Tuesday 4 October 2022 at the Escape to Freight Island in Manchester.
