Redcar favourite, the Starting Gate, is set to kick off its charity effort, with some fantastic fundraisers, for worthy causes ‘Zoe’s Place’ and ‘Royal National Lifeboat Institution’ this weekend. The beloved North East pub is excited to raise some much-needed funds as part of Craft Union Pub Company’s endeavour to raise £1 million in charity donations across its tight network of UK sites.

Craft Union’s ‘Make it a Million’ campaign comes after the company’s incredible fundraising results last year, in which they raised a staggering £800,000 for a wide range of causes nationwide. The leading pub company has made it their goal to smash last year’s result and rally a phenomenal £1,000,000 via its extensive network of pubs by February 2025.

Community gem, the Starting Gate, is keen to host a jam-packed family fun day on Sunday 30th June to begin its fundraising efforts with a bang, and show some invaluable support to two important charities, Zoe’s Place and RNLI. The fundraising fun is set to commence at 12pm, with a bouncy castle, face painters, a balloon arch and children’s games. Customers will also have the chance to enter lively pool and darts knockout competitions to support the fun-filled charity effort, with the winner receiving a brilliant £25 bar voucher. Families and members of the local community are wholeheartedly welcomed to share in what is expected to be a warm, bright Sunday afternoon filled with good-natured fun for a commendable cause.

The action won’t be stopping there as the much-loved hub will also be relishing in the buzz of The UEFA European Football Championships, which will see England’s ‘Three Lions’ take on its next opponent on the day. The Starting Gate will be boasting England flags, balloons, and not to mention its impressive Euros 2024 window mural. There will also be a blind card running, with generated proceeds going directly to the local favourite’s chosen charities. Customers will also get free entry into a raffle to win an England hamper, filled with a vast range of game-day goodies to help get into the national spirit. The Starting Gate will not be stopping there to rally up support. There will also be a best dressed competition for the best youngster dressed in support of the national team, so locals are urged to come along and get involved in the chance to win some terrific prizes and support the remarkable effort.

Operators of the Starting Gate, Celsie and Phil, have a close relationship to the local area, both being born and raised in Redcar, and are eager to support their local community as much as possible. Phil has been a member of the pub industry for over 20 years and is proud to have supported Zoe’s Place for over 10 years. The charity is incredibly important to Celsie and Phil, and they are working closely with the Zoe’s Place team to bring some real excitement to the local area on Sunday.

They are keen to extend their commendable fundraising efforts to Royal National Lifeboat Institution this year, as Phil said ‘being next to the sea in Redcar makes you realise how valuable the LNRI is to our safety. The workers who volunteer and risk their lives in any conditions to save others are the true heroes of our time.’

The well-loved Redcar local cannot wait to welcome its friends in the community to a whole day of fundraising fun and hopes to host a day of excitement and laughter for all. Customers and members of the local area can find more information about the event and other ongoing fundraising activities on the Starting Gate’s regularly updated Facebook page.
