Britain’s Biggest Pub Tour (BBPT) is underway and is heading to Great Barr next week. The BBPT which is in aid of Variety, the Children’s Charity will make its way into Birmingham on Tuesday 10th June visiting thirty pubs in the City including five in the Great Barr area – Hamstead, Scott Arms, New Bell, Tennis Court and Hare of the Dog.

Each of the 620 pubs and bars from the award-winning Stonegate Pub Company will take part in the event, by organizing fundraising events galore to raise money for Variety, the Children’s Charity. As well as hosting fun events at the pubs, across towns and cities from the Isle of Wight to Inverness, a giant BBPT passport will journey 5,555 miles throughout the UK visiting each Stonegate business, by an assortment of unique and entertaining methods of transport.

As the largest pub tour ever attempted in the UK, excitement and anticipation for the event in Birmingham, where greatest conurbation of Stonegate pubs are, is already high with crowds of customers expected to participate. First stop for the BBPT Passport is Great Barr and the Hamstead pub in Green Lane. It is set to arrive at 2pm delivered via Dr Who’s Tardis by the team at the Station in Sutton Coldfield. The passport is then scheduled to be carried by bicycle to Scott Arms on Newton Road, arriving at 4.30pm before continuing its journey onwards via supermarket trolley to New Bell on Booths Farm Road.

The following day, Wednesday 11th June, the BBPT Passport will leave New Bell at Midday accompanied by over fifty motorcyclists in convoy to Tennis Court on Walsall Road, arriving at 12.30pm. It will then be carried on foot to the final pub in Great Barr area, Hare of the Dog on Franchise Street for 2pm.

“This is our biggest charity fund-raising initiative to date and we are well on our way to raising thousands of pounds to make the lives of many families and their children that little bit easier. As part of the fundraising 50p from the sale of special Charity tipples, Strawberry Pimm’s or a pint of specially brewed real ale, The Crawler (Golden Blonde ale 4.1 ABV) will be donated to the Variety, the Children’s Charity.

The passport will continue its tour around the country culminating with a spectacular party at Slug and Lettuce, Tower Bridge on Friday 26 September.
