Britain’s Biggest Pub Tour (BBPT) is underway and is heading to Sutton Coldfield next week. The BBPT which is in aid of Variety, the Children’s Charity will make its way into Sutton Coldfield on Tuesday 10th June visiting four pubs in the town – Calder Green, Yates, Molloys and Station.

Each of the 620 pubs and bars from the award-winning Stonegate Pub Company will take part in the event, by organizing fundraising events galore to raise money for Variety, the Children’s Charity. As well as hosting fun events at the pubs, across towns and cities from the Isle of Wight to Inverness, a giant BBPT passport will journey 5,555 miles throughout the UK visiting each Stonegate business, by an assortment of unique and entertaining methods of transport.

As the largest pub tour ever attempted in the UK, excitement and anticipation for the event in Sutton Coldfield is already high with crowds of customers expected to participate. To celebrate the BBPT Passport’s arrival in the town the Calder Green on Calder Drive in Walmley will host a special breakfast in its honour from 9am on Tuesday 10th June. The passport will then be collected by K9 from Dr Who, who will transport it to Yates’s on Birmingham Road, for 10am, where Dr Who himself and his Tardis will await. A Dr Who themed party will take place before the Timelord will beam the BBPT Passport via his Tardis to Molloys on The Parade for 11am. The Doctor will continue to meet and greet customers before transporting the Passport onto Station on Station Street for 1pm.

The teams at all four Sutton Coldfield pubs have been busy already fundraising for Variety, the Children’s Charity. Later this month eight pubs in the town will take part in a mixed 7 –a-side football tournament to raise additional funds.

“This is our biggest charity fund-raising initiative to date and we are well on our way to raising thousands of pounds to make the lives of many families and their children that little bit easier. We also hope that our12,000 strong team of fundraisers and our fantastic customers have a great time along the way!” said Toby Smith, Chief Executive, Stonegate Pub Company.

Combined in Sutton Coldfield alone they aim to raise £3000 for Variety, the Children’s Charity which supports disabled children and their families nationally and locally.”

As part of the fundraising 50p from the sale of special Charity tipples, Strawberry Pimm’s or a pint of specially brewed real ale, The Crawler (Golden Blonde ale 4.1 ABV) will be donated to the Variety, the Children’s Charity.

The passport will continue its tour around the country culminating with a spectacular party at Slug and Lettuce, Tower Bridge on Friday 26 September.
