Britain’s Biggest Pub Tour (BBPT) is underway and is heading to Tamworth next week. The BBPT which is in aid of Variety, the Children’s Charity will make its way into Tamworth on Monday 9th June visiting three pubs in the town – Fox Inn, Phoenix and Yates.

Each of the 620 pubs and bars from the award-winning Stonegate Pub Company will take part in the event, by organizing fundraising events galore to raise money for Variety, the Children’s Charity. As well as hosting fun events at the pubs, across towns and cities from the Isle of Wight to Inverness, a giant BBPT passport will journey 5,555 miles throughout the UK visiting each Stonegate business, by an assortment of unique and entertaining methods of transport.

As the largest pub tour ever attempted in the UK, excitement and anticipation for the event in Tamworth is already high with crowds of customers expected to participate. The BBPT Passport is set to reach The Fox Inn at the Hopwas roundabout in Coton at 3.30pm, delivered via a sponsored walk from the team at Solihull’s late night bar Luna. The pub will celebrate its arrival with a family fun afternoon to be attended by pupils from local schools. The children will be entertained with a bouncy castle, as well as magical tricks and games from an entertainer.

Approximately twelve members of staff from the Fox Inn, Phoenix and Yates’s, dressed in an array of fancy dress from Wonder Woman to a giant traffic cone, will then run two and half miles to Phoenix on George Street, arriving at 4.30pm; where the funday theme continues, with guess the sweets in the jar, cake stall and a static bike cycle challenge. The BBPT will continue its journey to Yates’s on Lower Gungate for 4.55pm, carried by the wacky dozen before arriving at Calder Green in Walmley later that evening. In celebration Yates’s will host a special band night for the charity from 7.30pm.

“This is our biggest charity fund-raising initiative to date and we are well on our way to raising thousands of pounds to make the lives of many families and their children that little bit easier. As part of the fundraising 50p from the sale of special Charity tipples, Strawberry Pimm’s or a pint of specially brewed real ale, The Crawler (Golden Blonde ale 4.1 ABV) will be donated to the Variety, the Children’s Charity.

The passport will continue its tour around the country culminating with a spectacular party at Slug and Lettuce, Tower Bridge on Friday 26 September.
