Britain’s Biggest Pub Tour (BBPT) is underway and is heading to Walsall later this month. The BBPT which is in aid of Variety, the Children’s Charity will make its way into Walsall on Tuesday 17th June visiting Yates’s on Leicester Street.

Each of the 620 pubs and bars from the award-winning Stonegate Pub Company will take part in the event, by organizing fundraising events galore to raise money for Variety, the Children’s Charity. As well as hosting fun events at the pubs, across towns and cities from the Isle of Wight to Inverness, a giant BBPT passport will journey 5,555 miles throughout the UK visiting each Stonegate business, by an assortment of unique and entertaining methods of transport.

As the largest pub tour ever attempted in the UK, excitement and anticipation for the event in Walsall is already high with crowds of customers expected to participate. The BBPT Passport is set to reach Yates’s at 7pm on Tuesday 17th June, delivered by the team from the Red Lion in Wednesfield via the Wye Valley Brewery’s vintage rally mini. In anticipation of its arrival Yates’s will host a party at the pub from 2pm including karaoke and a barbeque. During the evening a special one off charity show ‘The Big Tribute Show’ will take place featuring two artists, Susie Hopgood and Danielle Rogers performing three fantastic acts –Kylie Minogue, Lady Gaga and Abba Alive.

The following day, the team at Yates’s led by its manager Lindsay Wakeman, will leave the pub at 8.30am and transport the BBPT Passport to the Yard in Stafford, courtesy of the Black Country Bus Tour. Joining them on the bus, which will be festooned with banners and balloons, will be regulars from the pub.

In an additional to boost funds for Variety, the Children’s Charity, the pub has created a humorous ‘Men of Walsall 2015’ calendar featuring some of the team members and door staff from the pub. The calendar is currently available to purchase from the pub.

“This is our biggest charity fund-raising initiative to date and we are well on our way to raising thousands of pounds to make the lives of many families and their children that little bit easier. They aim to raise £1,500 for Variety, the Children’s Charity which supports disabled children and their families nationally and locally.”

As part of the fundraising 50p from the sale of special Charity tipples, Strawberry Pimm’s or a pint of specially brewed real ale, The Crawler (Golden Blonde ale 4.1 ABV) will be donated to the Variety, the Children’s Charity.

The passport will continue its tour around the country culminating with a spectacular party at Slug and Lettuce, Tower Bridge on Friday 26 September.
