With the tables turning on proposals this year, a survey released today by the Venues format of Stonegate Pub Company has revealed that a mere 10% of Brits would opt to use dating sites in a mission to find love.
Ahead of the 29th February, the chain of 60 late-night venues launched a poll to drill down where most men and women look for love. With the all-important date in every woman’s diary across the UK, 44% of women questioned would rather find their number one whilst out dancing in a nightclub or in a pub with friends compared to 35% of men.
Following the recent news around the fear of hacking when it comes to online dating, it comes as no surprise that 38% of Brits would prefer to find their future spouse whilst out painting the town red with their friends. It seems that the younger generations are keen to ditch the modern ways, with 22% of 35 – 54 year-olds opting to use online sites and apps to aid their quest to find love.
Not only are social scenes taking over the digital world, but it seems that people in the UK are becoming less trusting of their friends or colleagues, with only 7% of those questioned admitting that they rely on these companions to set them up with the love of their life.
Alan Armstrong, Head of Marketing for the Venues format commented: “We always enjoy a good romantic story and we often find that love blossoms when people are enjoying a night out in one of our venues. We commissioned this survey to see what people are really after when it comes to the search for love and the fact that less Brits are using online sites or apps is interesting news for us. Our most recent Popworld Loves You promotion was launched specifically for Valentine’s Day customers so we are always on the lookout for ways to treat our core consumers.“
