Twelve new jobs are to be created at Chatham pub, Prince of Wales when it re-opens later this week following a £165,000 refurbishment.
The pub on Railway Street in Chatham, which is known for its extensive choice of cask ales and live sport to view, is to re-open on Friday 6th December. The 11- day makeover will see the pub spruced up from top to toe in readiness for Christmas.
“The weather’s suddenly turned cold so we thought we’d get into the wintery spirit with a ‘Winter Wonderland’ themed re-launch party”, said general manager, Ian Osbaldstone. ”All our staff will be rocking an après ski look and on the Saturday evening of our opening weekend we’re hosting a ‘worst Christmas jumper’ party!”, he added.
Doors open from 5pm on Friday 6th December with complimentary snowball cocktails and canapés from the pub’s Christmas menu for guests with a special VIP invite. The pub’s winter wonderland themed party, which is open to all, will commence from 8pm.
The Prince of Wales will re-launch with double the number of cask ale pumps than before – now eight and one dedicated hand pull cider pump too. “We have been cask marque accredited for the last six years”, said Ian, “and see cask ale as one of our great strengths. We are proud supporters of local brewers and regularly stock beers from nineteen different Kent brewers.”
The two story pub is being refurbished throughout in time for the Christmas party season. “Over 85% of customers who joined us for Christmas parties last year have chosen to re-book this year which is fantastic”, commented Ian, “and with our second floor newly refurbished we can offer customers the benefit of their own party areas tucked away but also to be a part of the pub atmosphere.”
The Prince of Wales will continue to offer a great selection of entertainment and offers throughout the week. The pub has three giant screens and fourteen smaller plasma TVs so the sports fan need never miss a game whatever their favourite sport. An exciting new addition to the pub’s weekly schedule will be a new ‘American’ themed Wednesday. Customers can enjoy some of the delicious dishes that have become the latest food trends to sweep the UK – the Nacho Grande Burger, the Chilli Hotdog and the Smoky BBQ Hotdog. These will be available all day every Wednesday, during food service hours.
