Two managers from a pub in Chesterfield have raised over £1600 between them for charity this month by taking on two very different challenges.
Sarah Brooks and Melanie Simpson, both from Yates’s on Burlington Street, raised the money with the support of family, friends and the Yates’s customers, smashing their original fundraising target of £1000.
Sarah organised a weekend of activities at the pub, over the Easter period in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support which included a raffle and children’s Easter themed colouring competition to raise £629.21. Whilst Melanie took to the skies and conquered her nerves to sky dive for Alzheimers Society. So far sponsorship donations for Melanie have exceeded £1000 with more expected.
“Well done to both Melanie and Sarah”, said Yates’s area manager Jon Perkins. “They have far exceeded their aim of £1000 combined and have shown real determination to raise money for the charities that mean something to them. A big thank you has to go too to all the generous customers at Yates’s in Chesterfield for digging in their pockets and showing their support.”
