The Chiltern Taps, on Oxford Road in High Wycombe, is hosting a Garage Night to raise money for Children with Cancer UK on Saturday 26th October. The pub has teamed up with promoters, Bass Invaderz, to bring customers the ‘Halloween Dance of the Dead’ ahead of the popular holiday.

Headlining the event is DJ Pied Piper, of ‘Do You Really Like It’ fame, who will be performing alongside other popular Garage artists including, Unknown MC, DJ Wittaz, DJ Lolly, D.K.M and Aylesbury legend and Capital Xtra DJ, DJ Uzy. Entry is £6 on the door, with the profits being donated straight to charity, where there will also be the opportunity to buy raffle tickets – with prizes including everything from a bottle of fizz, to vouchers donated by local businesses.

Scary attire is heartily encouraged, as Deputy Manager and organiser of the event, Jennifer Tuley, will be running a fancy-dress competition on the night, which can be entered for a £1 donation to charity. The winner will be announced on the night and the most spook-tastic outfit will take home a ‘Best Dressed’ trophy to commemorate their Halloween achievement. Customers are also invited to take part in a ‘Pumpkin Hunt’, where they need to find as many glow-in-the-dark pumpkin stickers as they can, to win and enjoy a generous bar-tab for the evening.

Jennifer said: “I’ve always associated Halloween with having a really fun night – for me it’s even better than New Year’s Eve – so I wanted to pull out all the stops for this one! We’re really excited to have DJ Pied Piper in the house, as he’s basically a household name and is guaranteed to get the crowd going.

“I chose to raise money for Children with Cancer UK for the event, because sometimes I think we associate cancer with the later years of life, so to bring more awareness to the struggles of young people suffering from the disease was really important to me. The charity really focuses on practical care and day-to-day support for people living with the disease too, and that can make all the difference to a family going through such a terrible time.”

Children with Cancer UK aims to improve the survival rates and the quality of survival in young cancer patients, as well as finding ways to prevent cancer in the future. The charity funds ground-breaking research to help children with cancer, raises awareness and supports families with its welfare projects.

The event comes as part of Jennifer’s participation in Stonegate Pub Company’s ‘Accelerator Programme’. The course is part of its award-winning development programme, designed to give staff the skills and knowledge they need to succeed and proceed within the company.
