The York Inn, Churchinford has been crowned Somerset Pub of the Year for 2023 and will be celebrating in style with everyone in the local community.

The York Inn is a popular local pub, and its loyal customers have recently helped the venue win Somerset Pub of the Year. The nomination and shortlisting came as a welcome surprise to Licensee Dan Prettejohn and the team, who had made the final ten pubs in the competition.

For a winner to be crowned, pub-goers within the Somerset area brought the local gazette, where they could then vote for their pub of the year.

The York Inn always has the community at the forefront of everything it does. From supplying delicious food and refreshing drinks to amazing regular entertainment and fundraisers, the pub offers something for everyone.

This is not the first award Dan and the team have received, as Dan was recently awarded The Chair’s Award for Service to the Community by Somerset County Council, for all of his community and fundraising work carried out through the pub. Dan and the team also won an award for their ‘Meals on Wheels’ during the pandemic and have recently won a contract to supply a local primary school with school meals.

Dan commented: “We are so thrilled to have won Somerset Pub of the Year and for our hard work to be recognised. At the York Inn, we do all we can to support the local community, and we are so grateful for their support. The team and I are always thinking of ways to help others, and we are beyond lucky to be able to use the York Inn as a platform and community hub for fundraising initiatives. We cannot wait to celebrate this achievement with you all.”

The York Inn will be hosting a fun-filled celebration party on Saturday 2 September to commemorate their prestigious win with customers. There will be a hog roast and woodfired pizza for guests to feast on and a live band will take the stage to soundtrack the event!
