The Cross Keys, on Front Street in Arnold, is hosting a coffee morning for Macmillan Cancer Support on Friday 25th October. The Cross Keys team, as well as some of their customers, have all committed to baking cakes, including General Manager, Justin Askew’s famous Oreo Cookie Cheese Cake.
Customers are welcome to drop in anytime between 9am and 12pm to enjoy the delicious samples of cakes, have a coffee and raise money for a good cause. The fundraising doesn’t stop there however, with Halloween week at the Cross Keys jam packed with fun for all the family.
Thursday 31st October will see a Family Fun Halloween party held at the pub from 5pm, which includes a pumpkin carving competition, apple bobbing and a dance off, all featuring on the line-up of entertainment for the afternoon. Then, on the evening of Saturday 2nd November, its over to the adults, when the Cross Keys takes a step back in time to host a Stranger Things themed party.
From DJ, to décor, the Cross Keys will be replicating the series’ 80s vibe, as well as giving the cocktail menu a spooky facelift for the night. Customers can get their groove on to all the hits from the era with regular DJ, Luke Mee, while enjoying the feeling of nostalgia as they hark back to the much-loved music decade.
Justin said: “We’re always supporting one charity or another here at the Cross Keys. Macmillan is an amazing charity, that provides invaluable support for people suffering from cancer, so keeping up the collection and raising as much as possible over the Halloween period was just a no brainer.
“The team and I are particularly excited about our Stranger Things themed party! We’ll all be dressed up, we’ve got some great props and decorations for the pub and we’ve put a lot of thought into the playlist for the evening – it’s going to be a real laugh.
“We’ve also got heaps of things to look forward to over the coming months – so watch this space! Think open-mic nights for Help for Heroes, Father Christmas visits and much, much more!”
