The Strand, a local community favourite at the heart of Exmouth, has recently raised over £1000 for a local resident who is suffering from a serious brain tumour.

Kath, Operator of The Strand, alongside her partner Doug and the rest of the pub team, have all been working together to fundraise towards the cost of private treatment for a local resident, who has been battling a brain tumour. The pub team have so far raised an impressive £1000 in just eight weeks through various fundraising initiatives and have shown impressive and unwavering dedication to the cause.

Every Sunday, The Strand pub has been running ‘Disco Bingo’, as well as a ‘Charity Quiz Night’ on Tuesdays, with the money raised being donated to the cause. The fundraising did not stop there, as raffles were also held with all proceeds going towards the funding. The pub also installed a jar on the bar, where the community could (and did!) generously donate.

Other local businesses also got involved with the initiative and have amassed a total fundraising amount of £100,000 so far, which will be gratefully received to help towards the costs of private treatment for the local resident.

Operator Kath said: “I am thrilled to help fundraise for such an important, local cause that’s very close to mine, Doug’s and the rest of the pub teams’ hearts. The community have been so supportive and generous with donating to our fundraisers, and we know the money will help greatly. I would just like to thank everyone who has donated or got involved in fundraising.”

The Strand has not stopped its fundraising for local and national causes there, as two members of the pub team will also be taking part in a charity skydive for ‘Children’s Society’, a charity dedicated to helping young people who are struggling with poverty, mental health issues, substance abuse and much more. They have currently already raised nearly £1000 for the charity.

If you would like to participate in the current fundraising initiative, please visit the pub and speak to a member of the team.
