Yates, Halifax is proudly hosting the fourth instalment of its much-loved ‘Battle of the Bands’ competition, and invites live music lovers to get involved in the fun-filled day at the venue on Saturday 2nd March from 4pm onwards.
The sought-after event makes a return to Yates and the Halifax town centre, much to the delight of locals, and welcomes musicians from surrounding cities such as Leeds, Huddersfield, Doncaster and even as far as Manchester. Those travelling from far and wide will take to the stage and compete for the title of best act, who are in with the chance of winning a £450 cash prize that is up for grabs.
Local legends and music sensations, ‘No Nonsense’, will be returning to the venue as judges of the event. The Halifax based band were founded in 2022 and have become firm favourites in the West Yorkshire music scene. The esteemed judging panel will score each performance across a variety of categories to crown the winning band. ‘No Nonsense’ will also be taking to the stage at 6pm to treat attendees to a guest performance of some of their top hits and fan-favourite covers.
In its two-year history at Yates, Halifax, Battle of the Bands has been hosted three times and has quickly garnered excitement and buzz within the Halifax community and beyond, making it an event locals won’t want to miss!
Four bands will be going head-to-head at the upcoming event including, university band The Tides and Blue Orchid Reaction, an indie rock alliance hailing from Leeds. Guest rapper T-ROY will also take to the spotlight for a dynamic guest performance before contestants Speed Weasel aim to impress before 5-piece rock band WNSDY at 7 close the competition. All contestants will play an arrangement of both original and cover material.
Deputy Manager Kurtis Spruce, who spearheads the Yates event commented: “Music is a huge part of our offering here at Yates and something we are passionate about celebrating. The talent on display at the Battle of the Bands astounds year on year and we are very proud to support aspiring musicians. The energy at the event is electrifying and is a must-attend for any music lovers out there.”
Yates, Halifax, in conjunction with event supporters Yorkshire Web Radio, RAOB, and All Pizzetto will be raising funds for local charity, the Halifax Street Angels through the event. The charity works in the Halifax Town Centre and focuses on keeping residents safe on nights out as they head home.
Yates’ Battle of the Bands event is free to attend, and the team look forward to welcoming new faces and regulars to the venue.
