The Old Windmill, Coventry has been shortlisted as a finalist in the category of Stonegate Group Pub Partner Pub of the Year at the Great British Pub Awards 2022.
The Old Windmill has been around since the 1450s and is the oldest pub in Coventry, and still has some of its original features including an open stone hearth with a hidden priest hole. The pub’s offering of amazing food and drinks as well as a range of live music performances and great company is the perfect reason to pop in.
There is an extensive drinks menu at The Old Windmill, which includes the greatest selection of ales, beers, wines, spirits and soft and hot drinks. The pub has plenty of space to enjoy your chosen drink, whether is in the delightful beer garden or in the cosy bar and seating area. To accompany your drink of choice, the pub has a small selection of delicious food available, which includes cheese and meat boards, pork pies and a mini ploughman’s.
If you are looking for some great entertainment, then The Old Windmill is the place, there is always something going on. Live music is a big part of the pub, with regular performances that everyone can come and enjoy. The pub also hosts four beer festivals throughout the year, with this summer’s being the biggest, with 40 beers. The summer beer festival also involved fundraising money for the CdLS Foundation UK & Ireland. Michelle and the team at The Old Windmill have undertaken other fundraising initiatives and are always supporting the local community as well as involving them with happenings within the community such as the Spon Street Market.
Michelle Gilmour, Licensee of The Old Windmill, said: “It is amazing to be shortlisted as one of Stonegate’s Pub of the Year at the Great British Pub Awards. The team and I work so hard to make the pub a great place for the local community and we are honoured to have received recognition for this. We cannot thank everyone enough who continually supports us, we would not be where we are today without you all.
“The Great British Pub Awards is such a big event for the pub industry, and it is an achievement in itself being nominated again within these prestigious awards.”
The awards recognise pubs, and their teams across the country for their amazing efforts and hard work undertaken to makes Britain’s pubs great for their communities. Two rounds of judging have already taken place to choose the finalists, and further judging will commence over the summer with pub visits taking place.
The Great British Pub Awards are taking place on Tuesday 4 October 2022 at the Escape to Freight Island in Manchester.
