Craft Union Pub Company, named Community Pub Operator of the Year, is investing over £300,000 into The Cross Keys in Hull.
With the doors to this community pub set to reopen during the week beginning Monday 5 December, guests can expect a jampacked events schedule along with new Operators at the helm. Yorkshire born and bred, Andy Werra and Kirsten Collinson, are the new Operators of this much-loved community pub. With over 15 years experience in the hospitality industry, Andy may well be known by locals having previously operated The Admiral in nearby Hessle, before moving to The Buck in Whitby.
Speaking about the new opportunity at The Cross Keys Andy Werra said “This is a fantastic opportunity for us to give some TLC to the pub which we know is so popular within the local community. This investment sees a new lease of life given to the Cross Keys, we have some brilliant afternoons and nights of entertainment planned for the pub, and I can’t wait for us to reopen, to enjoy good times with the pub’s regulars. If you haven’t been down to the pub for a while, I’d urge you to come on down and see what we have to offer.”
With events planned for nearly every day of the week, there truly is something for everyone at the pub. Each week will start off with the pub’s Monday Afternoon Club, which will see a host of games for guests to take part in including bingo from 2pm, and weekly Darts fixtures from 7.30pm. Tuesday nights see the return of the pub’s Quiz Night, whilst Wednesdays give guests the opportunity to Beat the Bosses, with the pub’s operators being taken on in darts and pool challenges with prizes to be won. The sports action continues on Thursdays when the pool team will take part in their weekly fixture from 7.30pm, whilst in the afternoon a Bingo and Karaoke combination will see plenty of fun had.
Friday nights will kick off the weekend with Karaoke from 7.30pm, whilst every other Saturday will see live music return to the Cross Keys with local musicians taking to the stage. Sundays are set to offer up a combination of live sport in the afternoon and an Eighties Karaoke from 7.30pm.
Andy added “Both Kirsten and I are delighted to be part of its new chapter. We are thrilled that the current bar team are staying with us on this journey. Their combined expertise and knowledge is going to be invaluable to us and we cannot wait to welcome guests, old and new, through the doors. We also have plans for the warm and welcoming pub to host a number of community groups over the coming months.”
Keep an eye out on the pub’s Facebook page, which will bring further updates and sneak peeks of the new look over the coming weeks.
