Braes, on Perth Road, will be hosting a ‘Doggy Fun Day’ on Sunday 22nd July, in aid of Guide Dogs for the Blind.

The event will be running all day at the pub and customers who come along with their dogs, can take advantage of a variety of stalls, including a Vet, a Groomers and a Dog Walking stall. The pub has also hired a photographer, who will be on hand to take professional Dog and Owner photos, at a fraction of the normal price, with all proceeds donated to the charity.

There will be a raffle running throughout the day, with a range of exciting dog-themed prizes up for  winning, including plenty of toys, a dog bed and some tasty doggy treats. Deputy Manager, Fraser Hay, who has organised the event, will be there with his own prized pooch, Snoop, the Black Labrador.

The event comes as part of Fraser’s participation in the ‘Accelerator Programme’, a training course run by managing operator, Stonegate Pub Company, which includes a practical component organising and producing a charity fundraiser.

The programme is designed to give employees the tools to bridge the gap between Deputy Manager and General Manager, through education and dynamic group learning. The course aims to build the participant’s confidence, encourage continued independent learning and help them to work together effectively as team.

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the Accelerator Programme,” said Fraser, “but I have to say, organising the Doggy Fun Day had been one of my favourite parts. As any dog owner will know, our dogs are so important to us, so working in a dog-friendly pub AND organising a day totally centred around dogs, has been great.

“I wanted to support the work that Guide Dogs for the Blind do because frankly it’s amazing. All the care and training that goes into each dog and the end result is just totally worth it. The dogs and the people they help are inspirational.”
