Missoula, on West George Street in Glasgow, is playing host to the city’s premier entertainment duo, the Bingo Babes, on Thursday 27th June. The one-off event is being held in aid of Brothers in Arms, the Glasgow based, men’s mental health charity.

Kicking off at 7pm, customers can get involved in two extraordinary rounds of bingo and entertainment, hosted by the drag queen ensemble, as well as standing the chance to win some fantastic prizes, with the overall ‘Queen of the Bingo’ taking home £200 worth of holiday vouchers.

Made up of drag queens, CJ Banks and Rujazzle, the Bingo Babes are well known for taking the usual bingo fun to the next level with their performances. They tour all over Scotland brightening up people’s days with their ‘ridiculously fun’ bingo nights.

The event has been organised by Missoula’s Deputy Manager, Jamie McCann, to raise money for Brothers in Arms, who, although based in Glasgow, offer support to men all over Scotland when they are down or in a crisis. The charity aims to empower men to ask for help when they need it and combat the potential feelings of failure they can experience when they do so.

Jamie said: “Although suicide rates in Scotland appear to be decreasing, this seems to be down to fewer women being driven to taking their own lives. Sadly, the rate of male suicide, particularly in young men, is increasing. This is why supporting charities, like Brothers in Arms, is so important.

“There is still such a stigma around men asking for help and or even admitting that there is a problem. We all need to be taking steps to overcome this and to help in raising awareness about the dangers that people with mental health issues face.

“The team and I hope to do this with our Drag Queen Bingo evening. We can all get together and have some fun for a good cause. If the money we raise can go some way to helping someone in need – then it’s been a success!”

The event comes as part of Jamie’s participation in Stonegate Pub Company’s ‘Accelerator Programme’. The course is part of its award-winning development programme, designed to give staff the skills and knowledge they need to succeed and proceed within the company.
