Six new jobs are to be created at Southampton pub, Bedfords later this week following a £150,000 refurbishment of the business. The Grade II listed pub on Bedford Place, which is owned and operated by award-winning pub company Stonegate Pub Company, has temporarily closed for a makeover, re-opening on Wednesday 12th June.
Extensive repair and re-decoration of the exterior of the historic pub will give it a fresh new appeal whilst the inside of the pub will enjoy a total refit and new décor. General manager Rich Challinor could not be more excited about the planned changes and promises a celebration at the pub to re-launch it.
“We’ve been looking to refurbish the pub for quite some time but we wanted to be sure we have the right design plan for the site”, said Rich. “It’s an iconic pub in the Bedford Place area of Southampton and we needed to be sympathetic to the building whilst at the same time bringing the pub up to modern standards and expectations. To do it justice takes time but we are sure our customers will love the difference. ”
“I’m thrilled with the designers’ ideas and can’t wait for our customers to see the finished look.” Bedfords will re-open as The Bedford Arms with a VIP champagne and canapé reception on Wednesday 12th June at 5pm for local residents and businesses before the doors swing open to the public from 7pm. Helping the pub celebrate will be live band ‘Harrison and Perks’ who will performing a mix of indie and rock n’ roll covers.
The pub will re-launch with some great deals and entertainment throughout the week including a Monday grill deal, curry offers on Tuesdays, 50% off food every Wednesday and live music on Thursdays. The regular DJ-led party nights on Friday and Saturday are set to stay by popular demand.
“Bedfords is known for being one of the best pubs to watch sport in Southampton and that won’t change, but with our new design and layout we will be offering some brilliant menu deals”, added Rich. “We will be introducing a new children’s menu available every day until 6pm for families to dine at the pub and will continue to open from 10am daily for breakfast. We will also be introducing a breakfast loyalty card scheme as well as a real ale collectors card for those customers who enjoy a pint of locally brewed beer, ‘Hampshire Rose’ from the Itchen Valley Brewery”.
