The century-old sandstone building on the corner of Newmarket Street and Lint Riggs, is about to become Falkirk’s newest invested and most talked about property, as the Newmarket Bar undergoes £150,000 renovation to bring something contemporarily old to the town on Friday 23rd June.
Promising more than a lick of paint, the two-storey pub, restored to its original name in 2014, is offering first floor state-of-the-art sports, extensive King’s Feast menu, best in traditional Scottish craft brewing and varied entertainment for the young-hearted to the nostalgic.
Re-launching from 5pm Friday 23rd June, the extended team of sixteen staff, will be on hand with fizz and craft tasters to greet ahead of the first Friday night disco until 1am.
“The investment is a real balance between modernising the pub, and celebrating its roots. We’re appealing to a range of customers who have in common that they want something varied and different for Falkirk,” said manager John Hamilton.
Artwork representing the history of the surrounding area and reclaimed furniture is contrasted with six up-to-the-minute HD screens, projector, bookable booths with TV screens, and both Sky and BT Sports on the stylish first floor which also doubles as a function room.
Achieving the quality cask marque accreditation earlier this year, John is concentrating on quality local ales, working with Edinbrew to rotate beers across the three hand pulls whilst craft beers Brewdog IPA and Blue Moon have also hit the pumps.
There’s an emphasis on proper pub food with the King’s Feast including a section of mammoth dishes such as the Jumbo Pie Platter: Chicken Dinner Pie and Beef & Ale Pie with accompaniments, and the nine Sausage & Mash Mountain. The Challenge Burger is set to create theatre with four 6oz beef burgers, cheese and bacon, chicken schnitzel and chorizo served with double chips!
Culinary delights also include two meals for £8.49; Scottish breakfast with Lore sausages, bacon, Black Pudding, Fried egg, Baked Beans, Potato Scone and Buttered Toast for £2.99; and daily offers from Burger & Drink Tuesdays from £4.99 to Saturday Five-Dish Planks for £7.99.
The entertainment line up includes Sunday ‘Kwizzbit’ interactive style before Monday afternoon’s more traditional pen & paper quiz. There’s also Tuesday afternoon bingo, Wednesday ‘You say we play’ (posh free juke box)!, Thursday Killer Pool, and Friday & Saturday DJ until 1am.
