Five new jobs have been created at Yates’s in Newcastle upon Tyne following its first major refurbishment of the bar in ten years. The pub re-opens after a 10-day £200,000 makeover this Thursday 12 September. The creation of additional jobs is in response to the anticipated boost in trade at the busy City centre pub.

The huge three story pub which can accommodate 800 customers has been refreshed with new décor, furniture and latest audio visual equipment including sophisticated LED colour change mood lighting.

To celebrate its re-launch general manager Mark Wright and his team have a plan of events for September to entice customers to visit the new look bar. Kicking off with a brand new Friday night theme, ‘I love POP’, its customers will be treated to a regular night of full-on party tunes and sharing cocktail offers to bring out the inner party animal in them. The big Newcastle United versus Hull City home game on Saturday 21st September will be an opportunity to re-launch the bar’s famous match day hospitality with those in the stadium celebrating their team’s win (hopefully), at Yates’ afterwards.

S Club star and celebrity Jo O’Meara joins Yates’s customers for a one-off performance and personal appearance on the evening of Friday 27th September whilst on Saturday 28th September Mark and his team anticipate full capacity as the big fight, Tyson Fury versus David Haye, is shown live across the bar’s two big screens. Special ‘boxing kangaroo’ street artists will be parading the streets creating a buzz ahead of the eagerly awaited fight.

Yates’s opens with a fresh new look to its dining space in readiness for the winter party season. A second floor area with private bar and facilities is the perfect destination to hire for this year’s hottest Christmas parties. Partygoers can soak up the atmosphere and yet retain a private floor just for their own use.

Talking about the refurbishment General Manager Mark Wright said, “Yates’s is the oldest and most established bar on the high street and is still the very best place to be for a great night out. We are hugely excited and energised about the refurbishment and hope that our customers are too.”

“We’re open from 10am on Sundays through to Thursdays and from 9am on Fridays and Saturdays making us the perfect one-stop shop for breakfast, mid-morning coffee through to lunch, after work drinks and a late night party destination. The team have been busy whilst the bar has been closed refreshing customer service training, practising our perfect pouring and cocktail making techniques and perfecting our delicious dishes. And so now with our smart new look to the bar we are ready and raring to welcome our guests,” he added.
