The Sacks of Potatoes, on Gosta Green in Birmingham, will be hosting a five-a-side football tournament on Saturday 7th July to raise money in memory of their late colleague and friend, Doug Mustin. The event, which has been organised by Manager, Vicki Phillips and regular to the pub, Andy Critchley, will kick off at 10am and everyone is welcome to take part.

The team at the pub will be donating all proceeds from the competition to Macmillan Cancer Support, which was chosen by Doug’s family. There will BBQ in honour of the occasion, for both players and spectators to enjoy throughout the day, as they soak up the sun and a bit of sport.

“Doug was an incredibly important part of the team, here at the Sacks of Potatoes, and in the community,” Vicki said, “we’re all really proud to be able to organise an event in his honour – especially because he loved football so much!

“We’ll be presenting the winning team with ‘Doug’s Memorial Cup’ on the day and hopefully this is something we can continue to do in the future.  Macmillan is a really worthwhile cause and we hope to raise over £200 to support the amazing work they do.”
