The HISTORIC GEORGE AT BILTON reopened last night as the Mayor of Rugby cut the ribbon on the beautifully restored pub.
The Mayor, Councillor Belinda Garcia toasted to the £150,000 refurbishment as the pale grey, picturesque landmark complete with chic décor, ornate lighting and locally reminiscent features showed off its new crafted drinks and classic food menu.
“We are so pleased to have the honour of presenting back to Bilton the beautifully restored George,” said new manager Gareth Evans.
“We’ve been sensitive about how we’ve approached the project recognising this is very much a celebrated family-friendly pub and not wanting to change its character, whilst make it attractive to modern pub goers.”
The result is definitely a winner in the eyes of the locals as well as the new team with its generation of twenty new jobs.
The Grade II listed old coaching house, now serves a range of craft beers of Blue Moon, Longhorn IPA, and Samuel Adams Boston lager to accompany the cask range of rotating local and national favourites. Fizz Friday is just one of the sparkling offers with a bottle of fizz at £11.95, whilst ten premium gins from Pinkster to Sipsmith and Bloom are served with tasteful garnish.
The seasonal menu oozes Ploughmans, Superfood Salads and light Risottos alongside starters and mains flourished with tastes of the Mediterranean and British summer (less the rain) such as Antipasti, Chicken & Brie Pie, Guest ale Battered Fish & Chips, Moroccan Spiced Lamb Burger and Elderflower Syllabub.
With an autumn menu round the corner, Christmas has already been planned with Traditional Turkey Favourite, Pie with a Christmas Twist, Festive Themed Buffets, and book in advance perks promising to get even the Grinch singing Ding Dong Merrily On High. classicinns.co.uk/thegeorgerugby/christmas
