The Duke of Clarence, formally the Bloated Mallard in Hampton Hill, has returned to its former name and has a new look, thanks to a £500,000 investment.

Ricardo Azevedo has teamed up with Gary and Jenni O’Connell who operate two other Stonegate Group pubs within the area, The Railway in Teddington, and The Greyhound Kew Green, to create a third site in South West London.

With more than 50 years of experience between them, the trio have teamed up to create a community gastropub with exceptional food and drink, bringing elevated British classics, fine wines and cocktails to Hampton Hill.

Set to reopen in the first week of May, the popular local, situated a stone’s throw away from Bushy Park and central to the high street, is being transformed into a space for customers to relax and unwind with great food and drinks.

Upon entry the interior is divided into three different spaces, the main bar area, lounge area and conservatory dining area. In the main bar area, a large, re-vamped bar takes centre stage, housing an extensive range of drinks and featuring new seating around its oval bar. As you continue through the interior, the lounge room, filled with comfy seating and a fireplace, provides a homely atmosphere where you can relax and unwind.

The completely renovated conservatory has donned a botanical theme and makes for a brightly lit, floral dining area with its open-planned kitchen and banquette seating where guests can admire the beautiful garden space.

With spring well underway and summer right around the corner, the Duke of Clarence’s large garden is a great attraction and having teamed up with Waddesdon Winery have created the Duke of Clarence & Roseblood Garden.

The Garden has been split into three vital areas, the raised deck with high and low tables for drinking, dining and private functions.

The Astro turfed dining area can accommodate a 50-seater restaurant to dine at your leisure and a newly laid grass area will complete the theme with deckchairs, a pop-up bar and a pergola swing to relax in the summertime to come.

Ricardo said: “Myself and the team are thrilled to have taken on the Duke of Clarence and cannot wait for it to be open to welcome customers back.

“The investment has really transformed the pub and we are all in love with how it looks. There is so much for customers to explore, from Happy Hours and weekly specials to fresh Cornish fish direct from the boats. Our guests are always our priority, and we want to provide an offering and space that everyone can feel and enjoy.”

As well as stocking a great range of drinks including real ales, fine wines, spirits, cocktails and soft drinks, the Duke of Clarence will also have a new look food offering including Breakfast, Set Lunch, a la carte and children’s menus running throughout the day, so there is something for everyone and the whole family can dine out!

Ricardo added: “Our food offering is really important to us; we want to pride ourselves on providing great food for any of our guest’s occasion. We believe this investment will allow our customers to have a space away from home where they can enjoy time with their family and friends. We look forward to seeing everyone soon!”

The Duke of Clarence will be holding a launch party to celebrate the reopening of the newly refurbished site in the first week of May.
