You often hear of people doing crazy stunts in aid of charity, from bike rides, to swimathons, from hair shaving to fancy dress challenges but for one man his dedication to his chosen cause is, well, a little bit more of a permanent reminder!
Carl Thomas, 30, assistant manager of Nottingham pub, The Horn in Hand, which is owned by Stonegate Pub Company, is asking customers, friends and even strangers via facebook to pay £1 to vote for the name of the celebrity face he should have tattooed onto his leg.
Voters can choose between:
• Fearne Cotton
• Ricky Gervais
• Keith Lemon
Carl, who already has over ten tattoos including ones of Phil Collins and John Travolta, first dreamed up the idea when he took part in ‘Movember’ in aid of Prostate Cancer. “I was so shocked when I heard about the statistics for people suffering with prostate cancer and how prior to awareness raising of Movember people didn’t really know much about it. So I decided to get a tattoo of someone’s face and invite people to pay to choose whose face it should be.
“I’d originally thought of my girlfriend, my boss and Keith Lemon, because people laugh and say I look like him but my girlfriend didn’t like the idea of that. So I’ve chosen Keith, Fearne because she has such great rivalry with Keith on celebrity Juice and Ricky Gervais as he’s a such a brilliant supporter of The Prostate Cancer Charity”, continued Carl.
Readers can vote via http://www.justgiving.com/Carl-Thomas and can follow progress via http://www.facebook.com/events/167577976694091/. Voting closes at midnight on 10 April with Carl’s tattoo being etched at the end of April.
