Doors to the much-loved Riverside Inn in Cheddar are open again offering all the best of great British pub hospitality following a £328,000 makeover.
The historic village pub on Cliff Street has an enviable location at the bottom of Cheddar Gorge and is at the heart of the community.
These latest works mean customers can settle back in comfort and enjoy a wonderful choice of food and drinks with a host of live entertainment in a warm and welcoming traditional local. There is unbeatable TV sports viewing too, just in time for the Autumn Internationals and World Cup.
New signage, décor, soft furnishings and bar works have refreshed the bar and dining areas and outside there is a new children’s play area.
Familiar faces are at the bar to welcome customers back in following the short closure while the refurbishment took place, with General Manager Richard Crickmar heading up the team. He has a wealth of experience in the pub industry and is looking forward to meeting regulars and newcomers and seeing The Riverside Inn thrive as a real hub of the Cheddar community. It’s pet friendly too so perfect for stopping off for refreshments when walking the dog. The spacious pub has a good-sized car park for people visiting the popular tourist area from outside the village.
Commenting on the new-look Riverside Inn, Richard said: “There is a real sense of warmth and tradition here. This is a wonderful, friendly local pub for villagers and we are here for the whole community. Pubs are the original social meeting place and here at The Riverside we can guarantee you a warm welcome, great food, drinks, entertainment and service. Come in and see for yourself. It really is the hub and heart of the village and we look forward to showing you the new look and serving the new menus.”
It’s the perfect place for breakfast, lunch or dinner, a catch up with friends, family and work colleagues or to watch live sports with fellow fans. There is a friendly, family atmosphere with traditional community pub values and today’s quality service and experience. Look forward to tasty food, local ales and ciders, cocktails and live music, with entertainment including Rock ‘n’ Roll Bingo, quiz and games nights and live sports to make it high on the list for a fun night out.
Food is served all day, every day with menus to suit all ages and diets. The traditional Sunday roasts with all the trimmings are ever-popular along with pub classics throughout the week. Looking ahead to the festive season, bookings are being taken for Christmas meals, parties and Christmas Day lunch. The bar serves a wide selection of real ales and local ciders as well as the national and internationally- recognised beers, lagers, wines, spirits, soft drinks, low and no alcohol drinks and barista-style coffees and hot drinks.
The reopening also means there are further job opportunities at the pub and Richard will be happy to talk to people keen to work with his team.
He said: “This pub really is a big part of the village and we are here for people to come in, relax and socialise, whatever the occasion. It’s not just about the food, drinks and entertainment, it’s the people who really make this pub the special place it is, so pop in and enjoy the atmosphere and the chatter!”
