Receiving an overhaul of its appearance and entertainment on offer, The Lorne in Rhyl reopened last month following a £149,000 refurbishment.

The historic seaside venue has a long-standing connection with sport dating back to 1893 when the pub hosted a momentous meeting between Rhyl Football Club and the other Welsh coast clubs, including Bangor, Flint, and Holywell, where they would discuss and go on to form the first ever North Wales Coast Football League. Located just a 5-minute walk from the wonderful Rhyl Beach and the town’s train station, The Lorne provides the perfect meeting point for locals and visitors to the North Wales town, the pub is also dog friendly.

Skip to today, and sport is high on the entertainment list, the pub now has nine large TVs to watch the latest and greatest sporting action from across the UK, with both BT and Sky Sports playing daily.  Keeping up the sporting theme also sees a new pool table and darts board added, enabling guests to take part in a range of sporting activities, whilst enjoying one of the pub’s extensive range of drinks available from the bar.

Throughout the week entertainment in the pub sees a schedule of Monday night bingo, Tuesday night’s free pool, and music from Thursday through to Sunday nights with a mix of karaoke and live DJ sets.

Operator at The Lorne, David Lloyd said “The entertainment on offer for our guests allows for our great local community to regularly enjoy afternoons and evenings here at the pub. The people of Rhyl make this pub what it is, and we’re really enjoying having them back, as we look forward to the festive season.”

Throughout the friendly pub, improvements have been made to create a warm and welcoming feel, with the interior seeing a complete transformation through a refresh of all furnishings including bench seating and decorations giving a fantastic new look to the Market Street pub. Externally the pub’s garden includes new seating and a fresh colour scheme.

David added “It’s a great feeling to be open once again, with our new look and entertainment on offer. Feedback from our regular guests has been really positive since we reopened, and it’s been so good to see so many familiar faces from throughout the community, enjoying themselves once again at The Lorne.”

The Lorne in Rhyl is part of the award-winning Craft Union Pub Company, who were named the Best Community Operator at the 2022 Publican Awards.
