The actual Olympic Torch which lit the flame at Beijing’s National Stadium to mark the start of 2008 Summer Olympics is heading to Newbury this week. The torch is being brought to Hogshead on Wharf Street, courtesy of Coco Cola on Saturday 9 June so that customers can hold it and have their photo taken with the iconic sporting symbol.
Matt Newman, deputy manager of Hogshead said, “It’s a fantastic honour that Coca Cola have chosen our pub to showcase the torch and a great opportunity for the people of Newbury to see at first hand one of the greatest sporting symbols of our era.”
The pub will be fundraising throughout the weekend for Naomi House. Matt Newman and his team will be running a raffle with prizes donated from local businesses as well as tickets for London Eye from Coca Cola.
