The historic Horse and Trumpet in Leeds city centre, famous for its array of real ales, has undergone a five-figure investment just in time for summer.
Introducing brand new signage and exterior, fresh furniture and décor and a cask line up like no other in Leeds, the sports pub has all the hallmarks of a proper pub.
A VIP event 8thJune will lay testimony to the pub’s biggest asset with Leeds Brewery on hand to talk all things beer whilst locals sip on favourites Leeds Pale Ale, Midnight Bell and Yorkshire Gold. An old school jukebox will provide ample entertainment before Leeds brewery raffle off merchandise to raise money for St Gemma’s Hospice.
The grade II listed building was originally part of Tetley’s Brewery dating back to the 1900s and still hosts original plaques on the side of the pub, one of the very few places to still be able to purchase a Tetley’s cask brew!
The seven cask ale pumps feature a variety of cask ales including local and national brewers such as Wainwrights, Tetley’s and Naylor’s to name but a few. Cask ale is celebrated with at least three seasonal festivals every year, collector cards mean customers can receive their eighth pint free and CAMRA members receive 10% discount off every pint.
The inside has been preserved as a good honest local, full of untainted character – an original stained glass skylight, whiskey tap and cosy old-fashioned fireplaces preserving the pub’s heritage now complimented by the new black and gold interior.
“We are big on real ale. Our cask board tells locals what we have on tap and the difference in hops, strength and taste. We have rotated hundreds of different brews and are always open to suggestions, but the prestigious Tetley’s is without a doubt our biggest seller,” said General Manager Victoria Booth.
Sky and BT sports and three big screens keep sporting fans happy, playing up to two different games at any one time. Exhausted Leeds shoppers and visitors can rest their tired feet and cool down with a gin cocktail, with a refreshing gin alongside a wide range of premium spirits.
Never short on atmosphere the pub offers, Monday and Tuesday cask club starting from £2.05 a pint, along with a quiz both nights, Wednesday play classic board games, Thursday night darts or customers can dictate the mood with the free Jukebox for their own entertainment every evening.
