The Fountain Inn, Huddersfield has raised over £25,000 for a local, regular customer through various fundraising activities.

Licensee, Charlie Neilson, the pub team, its customers, and the local rugby team have been carrying out and participating in fundraising activities to raise money for pub regular and former barmaid Beverley who has Motor Neurone Disease. The Fountain Inn and its customers wanted to raise money to support Beverley and her family in extending their house.

The fundraising activities which have been undertaken by customers, members of the community, and Charlie and the Fountain Inn team include a Golf Day, a Cricket Day, a sponsored 26-mile walk and raffles at the pub. Also, over 55 walkers, most being a part of the local Rugby team took part in climbing Snowdon, which they all achieved, with Beverley cheering them on. All the activities were heavily supported by the Huddersfield community, and everyone who took part wanted to challenge themselves whilst trying to raise money for Beverley.

Charlie said: “I am completely blown away by the amount of money we have been able to raise for Beverley and her family. It has been great having all the different fundraising activities going on in and around the pub and seeing everyone have fun whilst raising money for a lovely cause.

“We are always carrying out fundraising initiatives at the pub, and every time I am amazed by the support that is given by the members of Huddersfield. The amount we have raised has completely exceeded expectations and we are so happy this can support Beverley and her family.”

The Fountain Inn is beginning its next fundraising initiative, which is for the Motor Neurone Disease Association. Charlie and the pub team along with their customers have some great initiatives planned to raise money for this incredible charity.

Charlie concluded: “The work that the Motor Neurone Disease Association carries out is amazing, and we want to be able to help them with the work they do, supporting those who suffer from this horrible disease. We hope that everyone will be able to participate in what we will have planned, for such a great cause.”
