Slug and Lettuce, Canary Wharf, hosted global investment bank JP Morgan’s first UK fundraiser for Mental Health Charity, MIND, on Thursday 13th June. Slug & Lettuce waived its venue hire fee to support the charity and the investment bank raised over £70,000.
The annual fundraising event, which usually takes place in America, saw over 450 employees descend on the central London bar and compete in teams to win the title of ‘biggest fundraising department’. The event was tracked live on TV screens throughout the afternoon and teams were encouraged by JP Morgan’s Directors, who buddied up with members of the Slug and Lettuce team, and took it in turns to man the bar.
Richard Hamilton, General Manager of Slug and Lettuce, Canary Wharf, said: “MIND is also our official chosen charity this year, so we were really pleased to help JP Morgan with this event. It was fantastic to see the fundraising total go up so much over the course of the afternoon. Everyone gave very generously, and it was a privilege for my team and I to be a part of it.
“I was also told that the previous record for an event like this in the USA was $30,000… so it makes this year’s total more than doubly impressive!”
