Yates’s on Chapelgate in Retford is planning an action-packed bank holiday weekend at the pub to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and hopes to raise hundreds of pounds for Help for Heroes in the process.
The team are decking the pub in red, white and blue bunting for the weekend and hosting a long weekend of parties to celebrate the monarch’s milestone.
Deputy manager Fern Wood, who is coordinating the weekend said, “It’s going to be non-stop fun from Thursday through to Tuesday. We’re really delighted to welcome one the hottest bands in the area to the pub on Saturday night. ‘Digging for Elvis’ has a huge following and really know how to get a party started.
“We also have another very special visit, from non other than the Queen herself! She’ll be popping into the pub on Sunday in the form of a life size cut out and will be offering to have her photo taken with any customers in exchange for a small donation to Help for Heroes.”
“A big thank you to Tony Eaton, the local representative for Help for Heroes for supplying us with banners, flags and balloons and for his support in our fundraising efforts.”
Throughout Monday the pub will be serving customers delicious home-made cakes and goodies with all donations received going to the charity.
