The Gatehouse Inn, Lincoln has welcomed MP for Lincoln, Karl McCartney following its £200,000 investment earlier this year by Stonegate Group.

The pub, part of the Craft Union Pub Company, which won Best Community Operator at the 2022 Publican Awards, has been showcasing its brand-new look to everyone in the local area including local MP, Karl McCartney. Assistant Manager, Jodie Somley and the pub team were on hand to welcome Karl and give him a full tour of the pub. Karl was able to find out first-hand from the team about all the changes that had been made to the pub’s interior and exterior during its investment.

As well as receiving a tour of the pub, Mr McCartney was able to talk to Jodie about being a part of the Craft Union Pub Company, and the pub’s community activity and charity work. The pub offers a welcoming space for all to come and enjoy a drink, watch live sports and experience great entertainment.

Karl was also very interested in hearing and finding out about the pub’s employment opportunities and speaking with team members to find out about their career journeys. He was also given the opportunity to get behind the bar and pull a pint.

Karl McCartney MP said: “I had a great time visiting The Gatehouse Inn and meeting with Jodie and the pub team. The pub looks brilliant after having its refurbishment, and it is great to hear that everyone who has been in likes its new look. It was very nice to hear from Jodie about how customers love the pub’s offerings and what the team do to involve everyone in the community. This is such a great friendly local pub and I look forward to the next time I visit.”

Operator of the Gatehouse Inn, Tara Clydesdale, commented: “It was lovely for Jodie and the team to welcome Karl into our friendly local pub to see its new appearance and find out about all the brilliant things we do. It is great to hear that he was really interested in the team and their hospitality careers, and our involvement with those in Lincoln, which the team were all happy to talk to him about.
