Literal to the historic meaning of its name, the Lamb & Lion within Bath’sancient city walls, has been redeemed in a transformational £325,000 spend, creating six new jobs.
The Bath stone pubon Lower Borough Walls has beenrevived with contemporary flair whilst embracing its Georgian character both inside and out as one of the city’s largest beer gardens prepares to become the most popular after its overhaul and quirky new additions.
The launch on Friday 30thJune from 5pm, with MayorCouncillor Ian Gilchristin attendance, will showcase the new stylish décor, craft beers, tasters of the most proper of pub food, and an introduction to the pub’s new music line up as acoustic musician Gary Nock sets the atmosphere. Lilley’s cider will be on hand to tell drinkers all about new summery tastes.
“We can’t wait to open,” said manager Jonathan Langan. “Like much of Bath we’re blessed with architectural beauty but our outdoor retreat is a unique hidden gem.
“A garden should be for winter not just for summer so we’ve added an under cover pergola to the new astro turf, ambient lighting, boothed seating and cosy furnishings. It’s such a great addition with a huge space for one hundred customers.”
The offer has diversified as much as the look with extended opening hours, Sky and BT Sports across five plasma TVs and eight-foot big screen, expanded cask ale range, new menu from breakfast to late, and a line up of reasons to visit from quiz to live music. Sports Table Service, extending to the garden illustrates the upgrade the team are planning to service.
The beer range enlarged to six handpulls features a number of local and national brews including Exmoor ales, alongside craft alternatives such as Bluemoon and Punk IPA. Premium spirits line the bar with an extensive Gin, Vodka & Whiskey selection.
Visitors, tourists, shoppers and workers alike are all covered with a menu offering over 100 combinations of dishes. Serving breakfast everyday, whether it’s Full English, Breakfast Wrap or Eggs Rarebit, it’s the local pub setting you up for the day. Pub favourites like Sausage & Mash and Beef & Ale pie; ‘Build your Own Sharing Plates’ and daily deals from two meals for £9.49 to Burger & Drink from £7.49, it’s definitely gearing to be a great value local.
Open from 10am-midnight Monday-Thursday, 10am-1am Friday and Saturday, and 11am-10.30pm Sunday, it’s idyllic for after work wind down, evening soiree, or relaxed dining experience.
Entertainment will know no bounds with Monday night poker, Tuesday and Wednesday sport, Thursday quiz, Friday and Saturday live music sets and upbeat music, and Super Sunday wind down with sports and of course the traditional roast dinner with all the trimmings.
