The major renovation of a landmark Walthamstow pub is about to give tube passengers a fresh welcome to the town when the near 150-year old Goose outside Walthamstow Central, reopens after a £340,000 transformation on Saturday 28th April.

The trendy new image, which has led to seven new jobs for the area, introduces twelve craft beers and ciders alongside an extensive spirits range on the new feature bar, a great sports offer with two big screens and HD TVs, and promised quality food service.

“We’re repositioning the Goose in keeping with the growth of Walthamstow,” said general manager Dan Saxton. “We’ve added to the attraction and flair by taking traditional assets and transforming them to create a premium pub offer.”

As the focus remains on sport whilst evolving to more craft and better service, expect a certain Bohemian edge to the refreshed look, extending to a refined exterior and beer garden. Drawing on the famed local music scene, there will also be live entertainment at weekends.

Meantime, Punk IPA and Camden Pale Ale are just some of the craft beers complemented by local real ale from breweries such as East London Brewing Company, Redemption, and Fullers. Cocktails are 2-4-1 all day, every day and party bowls are from just £9.99.  A range of twenty gins served with the perfect garnish take the revival drink to a gentrified level whilst whiskies and rums get as much attention too.

Food has something for everyone, starting with full breakfast and two meals from £10.99 such as Fish & Chips and Beef & Ale Pie all day, every day. Burgers, from Classic Beef to Three-way Chicken, Grills and Build-your-own Planks couldn’t get more sociable.

A launch event taking place on Saturday 12th May from 4-7pm will show off craft beer and gin tasting, great plank dishes with live music, followed by a night of 2-4-1 cocktails and dancing to the Goose’s resident DJ.

Other reasons to visit include board games on Mondays, Quiz on Thursdays, live entertainment on Friday and Saturday and an interactive quiz for techno lovers on Sunday.

The refurbishment comes as the adopted Goose name reaches its 21st birthday; the pub was originally called the Tower Hotel and first became the Goose in 1997.
