It’s one of Guildford’s oldest pubs – and now the Three Pigeons has been set up for an even brighter future thanks to a £150,000 investment.
The 17th century pub will reopen with a champagne VIP event on 26th August, joined by Guildford’s Mayor, councillor Gordon Jackson.
Guests will be treated to sample tasters from the menu and craft ale to celebrate its reopening, along with live music, thanks to a local saxophonist performing jazz in keeping with the cool and sophisticated style of the pub’s new look.
The décor of the 252 year-old pub has been stylishly and subtly improved with new rustic colours, booth seating, enhanced lighting and even fairy lights adorning the outside area. The relaxed ambience is perfectly in keeping with the listed status of this historic venue creating the perfect location for dining in this well-known pub.
The redevelopment of the Stonegate Pub Company-owned Three Pigeons has created one new job with general manager Jay Biver taking on an extra chef.
“With the Three Pigeons being listed we have been incredibly sensitive with the makeover,” said Jay. “It’s very subtle, with neutral colours, and the addition of comfortable booths will certainly make people want to linger over their meal. It’s all in keeping with the rustic, relaxed style people know us for.
“The regulars have been keen to see the changes – so we can’t wait to unveil them.”
The food-orientated pub is already renowned for its pies, which include traditional style Beef andamp; Abbot Ale and hugely popular Chicken andamp; Smoked Applewood Cheddar.
What’s more, the Three Pigeons brings a taste of the Mediterranean to the Surrey town with its tapas/small plates, which offers three dishes for £10 or five from £15. Diners can pick from a range that includes Chorizo Sausage, Smoked Haddock andamp; Coley Fishcake or firm favourite Patatas Bravas.
It is not just the food that is drawing people in; the Three Pigeons is offering a selection of craft beers and ciders, including Blue Moon 5.4% ABV 355ml and Brewdog Vagabond 4.5% ABV 330ml.
