MP for Ealing Central and Acton, Dr Rupa Huq and the East Acton ward councillor, Cllr Hitesh Tailor recently visited The Morton Arms, Acton following its refurbishment.
The Morton Arms underwent an investment of £160,000 a couple of months ago which saw changes made to the pubs interior to make it into a warm welcoming environment, with a fresh new look. A big part of the pub’s investment was its name change to The Morton Arms, which pays homage to the late Geoff Morton who was born in Acton in 1922 and was known for his incredible goalkeeping and cricketing talents.
The pub has a wide variety of drinks on offer at affordable prices, including great craft beers and cask ales and speciality spirits and wines from around the world. The pub also shows all live sports, especially weekly football matches on its large TV screens with state-of-the-art surround sound systems, and all equipped with Sky Sports and BT Sports packages. This makes the pub the perfect place to catch all the sporting action with friends and family, over some drinks. There is also a variety of live entertainment happening at the pub, which takes place over the weekends.
Dr Rupa Huq, MP for Ealing Central and Acton, said: “Myself and Cllr Hitesh Tailor were delighted to have been able to visit The Morton Arms and meet with the team. The pub plays a great part in bringing together the Ealing and Acton community, and it was great to hear about this first hand from Licensee Shauna. We both thoroughly enjoyed our visit and I have since returned multiple times, in which I had a great time.”
The Morton Arms is part of the award-winning Craft Union Pub Company which won the 2022 Best community Operator title in the Publican Awards. The pub aims to be at the heart of the Acton community, welcoming residents, local clubs and groups, individuals working in the area and visitors on their travels.
Shauna Rendell, Licensee of The Morton Arms, said: “It was lovely to meet Dr Rupa Huq and Cllr Hitesh Tailor and show them around the pub. It was great to tell them about the role we play within the local community and how we continue to welcome all those in the Ealing and Acton area into the pub.
“The pubs recent investment has brought so many new opportunities and has allowed us to create a proper community hub for everyone to come along and enjoy a drink with friends and family. The pubs name means a lot to the Acton community and really helps showcase our love for sports. We pride ourselves on being a great community pub and look forward to the future of The Morton Arms.”
