Finchley and Golders Green MP Mike Freer, took time out to visit the Catcher in the Rye on Regent’s Park Finchley on Friday (6th April) to see behind the scenes of the pub purchased by Stonegate Pub Company and refurbished at a cost of £270,000 last September.
The ‘quintessential Great British Pub’ was modernised whilst preserved of its traditional features and now boasts premium craft beers, bar staff that know their botanicals from their vineyards, and impressive traditional fresh food designed to create the memorable experience of London pubs of old.
The local MP was introduced to the front and back of house team, learning of Stonegate’s apprenticeships and careers in management that highlighted the important role pubs and bars play in community and local economy.
Mr Freer commented: “Pubs like the Catcher in the Rye are real hubs for the community and places we should cherish. With so many pubs closing across the country, it is really good to see the investment and renovation work that has gone into making this an even nicer place to spend time with friends.”
Pub manager Stefanie Coe said: “We were delighted that Mike came to meet the team and see how we’ve turned the Catcher into a pub about genuine hospitality and refined culture”.
Operations Manager Dan Castle was on hand to give Mr Freer the guided tour: “We appreciate Mike visiting Catcher in the Rye to see the renovation and to meet the local team. This investment forms part of our annual £50 Million spend developing our pubs across the country providing enhanced community facilities, creating jobs and careers for people of all ages. Hospitality is an important business sector generating significant income for government and we are pleased that our local MP recognises the importance of British pubs and bars.”
