The Man in The Moon, Stevenage has raised over £1000 for their local charity The Living Room after hosting a Beach Party.
An actual beach was created for the party held on 27 August, which meant sourcing four tons of play sand as well as inflatables and a pool. DJs were on rotation all day playing Motown, Soul, Reggae, Hip Hop, House, Garage, Drum & Bass and Afro Beats.
John-Paul Matthews, Operator of The Man in The Moon, said: “We are so happy with the donation we will now be able to make to The Living Room, raised at this family fun filled event. I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who made the beach party possible. I am truly overwhelmed at the amazing kindness, and generosity shown, mostly I was blown away by the true community spirit.
“When I first took on the pub it was my mission to ensure we are a pillar of the community, and that a pub didn’t just have to be about pints. I wanted to show that we can be one big family a safe place for all, and this event really showed that it is possible. “
The Man in The Moon is part of the award-winning Craft Union Pub Company which won the 2022 Best community Operator title in the Publican Awards. This community event saw everyone come together to provide food stalls, face painting and raffles with all proceeds going to The Living Room, Stevenage.
The Living Room supports any adult living in Hertfordshire seeking help with an addiction, or family members and carers of someone living with an addiction. Their free, open-ended treatment is person focused, as the length of time needed for an individual to achieve recovery varies. Counsellors with lived experience work collaboratively with service users on their recovery journey and help them reach goals.
