The Mackintosh hotel is pairing traditional with contemporary in a £123,000 investment designed to take their undefeated reputation as the best sports pub in Cathay into a whole new class.
As well as eight of the best screens, one projector and a promise to screen all the big games across Sky and BT Sports, the Mackintosh is expanding its cask ale rage, revamping the beer garden, and transforming the inside; the project is also creating six new jobs.
“Sport, great value food and community has always been our mantra and that’s staying exactly the same,” said manager Rhys Slocombe. “But you have to keep your eye on the ball to keep a great local, so it’s time for a refresh.”
The fondly nicknamed ‘Macky’ will as part of the changes offer locals table service during big games, uninterrupted viewing with finger food and drinks to the table, the first occasion during six nations Friday 10th March as Wales take on Ireland!
Beer lovers will be pleased with five rotating local brews including beer from Wye Valley, Evan Evans, and Tiny Rebel. Bang on trend, the pub will also be joining the craft beer revolution, introducing Brewdog and Brains Barry island IPA as well as Lilleys cider and Gwynt Y Ddraig on tap. Capturing all tastes, cocktails will be 241 all day every day.
