The MP for Vale of Glamorgan, Alun Cairns recently visited The Pelican Inn, Ogmore following its £130,000 investment.

The recent refurbishment has made enhancements to the interior of the pub, contributing to the already warm and welcoming atmosphere guests receive on their visit from Licensee Mark Newbold and the team. The Pelican is the perfect cosy setting to enjoy drinks and delicious food, whilst taking in all the surroundings including Ogmore Castle.

During the visit, Alun Cairns MP met with Mark and Kim, Mark’s daughter where he spoke to them about the pub’s investment and was shown all the new features inside, including an array of art that has been created by local artists and craftsmen for the pub. The MP also got to hear more about the pub’s involvement with the local community, and some of their recent charity work.

Alun Cairns MP said: “I am delighted to have been able to visit Mark and the team at The Pelican and hear about all the amazing things that have been going on there. The pub looks wonderful with its new look, and it is such a welcoming space in Ogmore. Mark and the team are doing a great job of maintaining the standards of the pub and continuing to establish relationships with everyone in the Vale. I look forward to the next time I visit The Pelican.”

Mark added: “It was great for Alun to be able to visit us and see the newly transformed pub. We have welcomed Alun a few times to our pubs, so it was great to be able to update him on everything we had done during the investment and all that we have been doing recently within the community.”
