Aberdeen’s Murdos Bar, renown as a community hub, has completed its expansion, and introduced a great value ‘King’s Feast for the community.
The expansion by owners Stonegate Pub Company has created ten new jobs, converted an underused space to create a new lounge, adding a further 45 much needed covers, and advanced the kitchen facilities.
The grand unveiling last week reassured customers that the same emphasis on community and having a reason to ‘go down the pub’ was very much alive; karaoke disco, sports viewing across the pub’s three Sky boxes; Bank Holiday family fun day, (the first of many promised this year); and local musicians entertaining the locals.
Manager of four years David McNair has driven the much-loved pub to be at the centre of the Cornhill, Northfield and Mastrick communities, winning awards and accolades for his success. With success came the need to expand, and the doubled in capacity kitchen offers some of the tastiest dishes in Aberdeen – quality food and service at affordable prices. Favourites such as Hand-Battered Haddock, Chips and Peas or Cumberland Sausage and Seasoned Mash are available at two for £8.99 all day every day.
There’s plenty of choice whatever your budget from lunchtime meals and a drink at £5.49; Monday Big Plate specials at £4.99; Burger and a drink from Classic to Southern Fried Style Chicken for only £5.49 on Tuesdays; twelve choice Pick andamp; Mix Planks – five at £8.99 on Saturdays; meals under 600 calories, pastas and salads and of course vegetarian selections. But it’s the King’s Mega Meals just one leading example, the Double BBQ Chicken, Bacon andamp; Cheese Melt for a mere £8.49, that is sure to get locals talking.
The drinks menu also gets a top up with nine bottled world beers. The wine range starts from £7.95 a bottle and classic cocktail pitchers such as Woo Woo or Pina Colada are on offer at £9.25 per pitcher.
As well as a different food offers every day of the week, there’s other reasons to pop down the pub – Monday darts; Tuesdays ladies darts; Wednesday football night; Thursday bingo; Friday Karaoke disco; Saturday live bands and Sunday killer pool and live entertainment – not forgetting the great Sunday lunch!
David said: “The launch showing off our new lounge and food menu went down a storm, it is brilliant to know that we still have room to grow. Locals are still at the heart of what we do, we are that social environment but now we have capacity to offer so much more.”
