Popular Bristol pub, the Trooper, has reopened following an exciting six-figure investment, creating four new jobs for the local community.

Serving the local community since well into the 20th century, the pub resides as part of Stonegate Group’s Craft Union with the Trooper closing on September 23rd to undertake an extensive refurbishment with the community pub significantly upgrading its facilities.

The renovation has seen the pub’s covers increase hugely as a result of the work completed, allowing for more space and larger numbers of Bristolians to enjoy one of the Trooper’s great live events.

This new space for enjoying one of the Trooper’s tasty tipples comes in the outdoor area where new festoon lighting and inviting benches have been invested in to create one of the best spots for an outdoor beverage in the area.

Located on Bryants Hill, the beloved pub is proud to be the new home of pub sports in Bristol with a brand-new pub sports area with new dartboards where locals are invited down to discovering their inner Luke Littler.

The dedicated sports zone is also equipped with HD TVs showcasing Sky Sports and TNT Sports, meaning you can enjoy some arrows while not missing a second of the action, with sports fans able to witness every kick of the ball at the Trooper.

A state-of-the-art audio-visual system has been installed to further enhance the pub’s entertainment offering while pushing the best sports atmosphere possible for the big matches.

Furthermore, high-level furnishings throughout the site will create a newfound sense of comfort while sitting back and relaxing after a long day.

Moreover, a fresh splash of paint has equipped the pub with its best look yet while new signage throughout the Trooper will mark the start of a new chapter in the popular pub’s history.

Located near popular walking spots, four-legged friends are welcome throughout the pub, with the community pub being a popular spot for guests popping in for a pint with their pooch.

The Trooper also boasts a fine selection of beers, ciders and wine, all at some of the most competitive price points in the area. However, the pub also has an extensive offering of no and low alcohol offerings, ensuring all guests are accommodated to.

Operator Lynne Hunt originally began working at the Trooper in 1974 as a member of bar staff, while going on to become Operator of the beloved pub in 1990, with 2024 marking her 50th year at the Bristol pub.

Lynne Hunt, Operator of the Trooper, said: “We can’t wait to welcome back locals to our new look pub! Reopening as part of the Craft Union family marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for us.

“We know the full refurbishment has not only enriched our warm and welcoming atmosphere but also strengthened the pub’s community spirit, which was at the heart of our thoughts during the investment.

“We’re thrilled with our first-class beer range at competitive prices, and we cannot wait to showcase all the new features we have been working hard on behind the scenes to all our lovely guests, both old and new!”

The Trooper’s jam-packed weekly schedule always provides guest with a reason to visit, with Monday night’s Darts Night, with the pub currently taking entries for local teams to join the club and Tuesday night’s Quiz Night, your chance to test your knowledge amongst the best in Bristol!
